SSI Advanced Diver

If you are already a certified Open Water diver, and you want to take your diving to the next level (perhaps diving at night, or diving on shipwrecks in deeper water) then an SSI Advanced course may be just what you're looking for.

There are many different individual specialities that you could go on to complete but the easiest way to begin is by embarking on an Advanced Specialty Course. Five different speciality courses from the list below must be completed to obtain your Advanced level, with Deep diving being the only mandatory selection.

The course takes five dives to complete, with each dive involving at least one of your choice from the following specialties:

  • Boat Diving - planning, preparing and conducting from differing vessels
  • Night Diving - equipment and techniques explained
  • Deep Diving - exposing you to depths of between 18-30 meters (60-100 feet)
  • Underwater Naturalist - development of understanding of marine life
  • Underwater Navigation - use of both a compass and the natural environment
  • Wreck Diving - researching and exploring sunken vessels safely
  • Drift Diving - making effective use of currents and tidal flow
  • Computer Diving - understanding, choosing and using a dive computer
