SSI Dive Control Specialist (Divemaster)

As a diver you are primarily responsible for the needs and welfare of yourself and your diving buddy. However, as a leader you are responsible for a group of divers. To become an effective dive leader your attitude must change: you no longer dive for your pleasure, but for theirs.

A dive master course with Reef Safari will be a hands-on experience. We encourage people to embark on an extended twelve week internship rather than a quick fortnight-long course as you will be considered more employable by the industry upon completion. By taking part in one of our internships you will gain a wealth of valuable work experience in addition to the certification.

You will study advanced diving academics and develop leadership level diving and rescue skills. You will learn to take charge of groups and lead certified divers under water. You will also learn to assist instructors on Open Water courses and to conduct Snorkeling and SCUBA Skills Update courses on your own.

Once completed you will be able to earn an income using your new skills and embark on a career in diving. However, the most rewarding and motivating aspect of being a dive master may be the opportunity to touch people's lives and influence their enjoyment of SCUBA diving.
