Learn to dive in the stunning Whitsunday Islands.
An SSI Open Water course can be completed in a minimum of three days. At Airlie beach, your three days may comprise of either:
- Three day trips to the Great Barrier Reef aboard 'Seaflight' to complete 6 training dives.
- Morning tea, Lunch and afternoon tea included.
The above will be subject to dive numbers. All of the open water training dives are from the Knuckle reef pontoon
We start by learning the theory and basic skills, reading the books and completing some simple written task. Either in the pool or at the pontoon, students will be taught a series of underwater skills. These skills will then be demonstrated to their instructor in open water.
Our training methods employ a comfort through repetition approach across all the training dives. By the end of the course you will be comfortable and confident enough to enjoy diving safely without the supervision of an instructor.
